AMY TOLBERT

Ph.D., CSP

DR. TOLBERT, FOUNDER/PRINCIPAL OF ECCO INTERNATIONAL, SPECIALIZES IN HELPING INDIVIDUALS EXPAND PRODUCTIVITY AND ORGANIZATIONS INCREASE PROFITABILITY THROUGH FACILITATED EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING IN LEADERSHIP, INCLUSION AND GLOBAL COMMUNICATION INITIATIVES.

SHE CREATES LEARNING TOOLS INCLUDING, A VIDEO BASED GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS TRAINING (OPEN MIND, OPEN WORLD) AND IS FOUNDER/PARTNER IN SPECTRA DIVERSITY, OFFERING THE SPECTRA DIVERSITY INCLUSION ASSESSMENT (SDIA), MEASURING BOTH ORGANIZATIONAL PROGRESS AND INDIVIDUAL SKILLS RELATED TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN THE WORKPLACE.

Amy's Expertise.

Amy earned a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation with the National Speaker’s Association. The CSP is the speaking profession’s international measure of experience and skill. Fewer than 10 percent of the speakers who belong to the International Federation for Professional Speakers hold this professional designation.

She served as President for NSA-MN, has served several terms as National Vice Chair for the Professional Expertise Group on Diversity with NSA and was awarded the Mark LeBlanc Award for excellence in the speaking industry. She currently serves on the hrconnection Advisory Board, is Commodore for the Bayport Marina Association and is a board member of the Institute for Lawful, Safe and Effective Policing (ILSEP). ILSEP’s objective is to fix the current perception of abusive policing towards citizens, including those of diverse races and in vulnerable populations by providing education for both police officers and the community.

Dr. Tolbert earned her doctorate in Human Resource Development, focusing on international/cross-cultural and diversity education/training, from the University of Minnesota. 

Diversity and Multicultural Issues
Addressing diversity and multicultural issues, cross-cultural training, and managing a diverse workforce, Dr. Tolbert has researched multicultural competencies needed for today’s global organization. She has authored several books, some translated and distributed in Saudi Arabia and China.
International Presenter

Presents nationally and internationally at conferences, including the SIETAR International Convention, the Multicultural Forum, the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication, and the National Speakers Association (NSA) National Convention on diversity.

She is well authored with four books, many articles, assessment tools, active blogs, a video based global communications training (Open Mind, Open World) and co-authored the research based and validated tool, Spectra Diversity Inclusion Assessment (SDIA), measuring both organizational progress and individual skills related to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Published by Pfeiffer, she has contributed a chapter in Developing Talent for Organizational Results: Training Tools from the Best in the Field.

Globally Recognized

Consults and trains internationally in the areas of multicultural competency development, increasing influence in organizations, managing within a diverse workforce, motivation and leadership skills. Her diverse client list includes Medtronic, Polaris, Steelcase, Comcast, USBank, AT&T, 3M, Best Buy, Mayo Clinic, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of MN, BlackBox, United Way, Ford Motor Company, Gucci, Becton-Dickinson, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, along with many government agencies and non-profit organizations.
